Do I need any experience?
None at all. Most members walked in having never grappled. Classes scale to your level and a coach looks after you on day one.
Is the first class really free?
Yes — no catch and no contract. Come train and decide afterward.
What should I wear and bring?
Shorts without zippers or pockets, a rash guard or dry-fit shirt, and water. No gi needed.
What does "no-gi" mean?
Traditional jiu jitsu trains in a kimono. We don't — shorts and rash guards. It's faster-paced, closer to grappling without clothing to grab, and there's no uniform to buy.
Do you teach takedowns and wrestling?
Yes. Our curriculum blends no-gi jiu jitsu with wrestling, judo, and combat jiu jitsu, so you learn standing exchanges as well as ground work.
How much does it cost?
Adult memberships are $94.99 every two weeks, kids $79.99, with unlimited training and no long-term contract — 30 days' notice to cancel.
Can I train at other 10th Planet locations?
Yes — your membership includes all four 10th Planet academies in Orange County.
How do promotions work?
You earn them on the mat. Rank reflects what you can apply against real resistance, not attendance. The standard is high and members are proud of it.
I'm out of shape. Should I get fit first?
No. You get in shape by training, and every class scales to where you're at.
Am I too old to start?
No. Jiu jitsu runs on leverage and technique, which is why people who start in their forties and fifties do well at it.
Is it safe for beginners?
Yes. Beginners drill with controlled partners under coach supervision. Nobody throws you in on day one.
What age can kids start?
Age 5. We run two age groups — Little Kids (5–8) and Kids/Teens (8–13). From 14, teens train in the adult classes.
Do you have contracts?
No long-term contracts. Two-week billing, cancel anytime with 30 days' notice.
Do you offer early morning classes?
Yes — 6 AM Monday, Wednesday, and Friday.
