10th Planet Black Belt

Jon Cho — General Manager & Head Instructor

Jon runs the academy at Orange and teaches across both Orange and Fullerton. He's a 10th Planet black belt who came up through this system, and the curriculum here is his — structured, sequenced, and built so that what you learn in week one still matters at purple belt.

Students describe him the same way consistently: details always on point. He calls himself a perpetual student, which is roughly the attitude he expects from the room.

Mike John — Instructor

Mike coaches alongside Jon and brings the same standard to the mat. Between them, students describe "a couple of master-class martial artists" — technique built over years of training, taught in a way that makes it usable rather than impressive.

Dom runs the kids classes at Orange, ages 5–13.

Andy Balmore — Owner

Andy owns 10th Planet Orange and Fullerton, and is a black belt in Eddie Bravo's 10th Planet system.

What the coaching looks like

Between them, Jon and Mike bring the blend this academy is known for — modern no-gi jiu jitsu with wrestling, judo, and combat jiu jitsu woven through it. Rank here is earned against live resistance, and members will tell you that standard is the reason they stayed.

Lineage

10th Planet Jiu Jitsu was founded by Eddie Bravo, whose no-gi system grew out of how differently grappling works without the gi. Every 10th Planet academy teaches that system.
